Massage is the application of soft-tissue manipulation techniques to the body, generally intended to reduce stress and fatigue while improving circulation. The many variations of massage account for several different techniques. The techniques that Snyder Massage & Bodywork currently provides include the following:
Connective Tissue is the most abundant tissue in the body providing support, structure, framework, space stabilization and scar formation. This massage uses lighter, repetitive warming strokes that penetrate deeply and are meant to warm up the tissues around the joint areas.

Deep Tissue Massage releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the grain of muscles, tendons and fascia. It is called deep tissue, because it also focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. These techniques require more advanced training and a more thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology.
MRT™ (Muscle Release Technique) is a unique injury therapy technique that in many cases helps relieve pain in one treatment. Scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored and relief from pain starts immediately.
Pre and Post Natal Massage - Prenatally, specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. Specialized, advanced training in the anatomy, physiology, complications, precautions and conditions where massage is restricted is highly recommended, and many practitioners require referrals from physicians prior to therapy.
Sports Massage consists of specific components designed to reduce injuries, alleviate inflammation, provide warm-up, etc. for amateur and professional athletes before, during and after their training regimens.
Swedish Massage is one of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques. Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.
Trigger Point (also known as Myotherapy or Neuromuscular Therapy) applies concentrated finger pressure to "trigger points" (painful irritated areas in muscles) to break cycles of spasm and pain.
